About Leah
As an LICSW providing counseling services, I consider it a privilege to partner with clients on their journey to healing, well-being, and self-actualization. I love my job and love talking with and meeting new people. I have worked in the mental health field in various capacities for the past 15 years, practicing psychotherapy for the past 8 years. I focus on relationship building, and believe that a genuine relationship is key for a successful and meaningful counseling experience. Using an integrative, strengths based, person-centered approach, I draw from a variety of holistic and evidence based modalities to match the needs of the individual. It is an honor to collaborate with clients in an effort to find and employ the therapeutic approach/s that will best serve them and meet their needs. I strive to meet individuals exactly where they are.
In my practice, I am always learning. I continuously strive to better understand the unique and complex challenges that many face in this life. It is very important to keep an open mind and be completely non-judgmental while working with and interacting with others. My style is very open and fluid. I respect each person as a unique individual, and feel excited by the many facets of human diversity every single day.
I am comfortable working with individuals, children, and families dealing with a range of stressors and/or presenting with a variety of mental health concerns. I’ve had several years of clinical experience working with persons impacted by trauma, and by complex trauma. I identify as a trauma informed clinician with several years of experience. Other areas of focus have been within the LGBTQIA2S communities, also for many, many years, with specialization in healthy sexuality and identity development. Additional areas of clinical focus and specialization include and are not limited to: working with and treating persons living with SPMI (serious and persistent mental illness), crisis support, and culturally specific treatment with diverse populations.
Other areas of interest include and are not limited to: neurodevelopmental disorders including autism spectrum disorder, adolescents struggling with oppositional and high risk behaviors, comorbidity and chronic health conditions, addiction, existential concerns, family dynamics - with a particular interest in blended families, and attachment issues. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my two children, friends, and pets. I love being outdoors and especially enjoy kayaking and hiking, especially during the summer and fall months! I am proud to be a Clinical Social Worker and it is an honor and privilege to do what I do. I look forward to meeting you.
